Former minister Gudivada Amarnath has said that the entire credit for the Bhogapuram International Airport belongs to former chief minister and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He stated that Chandrababu Naidu is now trying to take ownership of the hardships and efforts put in by Jagan for the project.
“Jagan Fulfilled Uttarandhra’s Long-Standing Dream”
Amarnath said Jagan is the leader who turned the long-standing dream of the people of Uttarandhra into reality. He described Bhogapuram Airport as a landmark project that will play a crucial role in the region’s development. According to him, preparations are currently underway for the first flight to land at the airport.
Land Acquisition Completed During Jagan’s Tenure
The former minister recalled that all land acquisition and dispute resolution related to the airport took place during Jagan’s government. He said the YSRCP government paid nearly ₹1,100 crore as compensation to farmers and displaced families. He added that previous governments failed to ensure such justice to landowners.
Foundation Stone and Clear Deadline
Amarnath noted that Jagan laid the foundation stone for the airport on May 3, 2023. He also said Jagan gave GMR a clear target to land the first aircraft by December 2025. As a result, officials are now making arrangements for the first flight, he added.
Allegations Against Chandrababu
Amarnath alleged that Chandrababu laid a foundation stone on February 14, 2019, only to mislead people ahead of elections. He claimed that even 250 acres were not acquired during Chandrababu’s tenure, despite a requirement of 2,700 acres.
He concluded by saying that Jagan is the real architect of Bhogapuram Airport and accused Chandrababu of attempting to claim credit for Jagan’s work and decisions.
