A major cow smuggling operation came to light in Allagadda of Nandyal district after MLA Bhuma Akhila Priya launched a surprise midnight intervention. Her swift action led to the rescue of over 350 cows that smugglers transported illegally in five containers.
According to officials, Akhila Priya received specific inputs about cattle smuggling from Telangana to Kadapa. She immediately rushed to the national highway near Alpha Engineering College in Allagadda along with her supporters. There, she closely monitored vehicle movement during the night hours.
Soon after, she stopped five fast-moving containers that raised suspicion. On inspection, the MLA found more than 70 cows packed tightly inside each container. The animals had no space to move and struggled to breathe. Many collapsed due to suffocation and exhaustion. An Innova car escorted the containers, indicating a planned operation.
Reacting strongly, Akhila Priya condemned the act and called it cruel and unacceptable. She said authorities would not tolerate such illegal cattle trafficking. She also revealed that nearly ten other lorries managed to escape before the interception.
The MLA handed over the rescued cows to the police and ordered a detailed probe into the smuggling network. She directed officials to identify everyone involved and take strict action. Meanwhile, videos of the rescue operation spread rapidly on social media. Animal lovers and citizens praised Akhila Priya for her bold and timely response.
Police have intensified highway checks in the region to prevent further illegal cattle transport.
