A chilling crime has come to light in Jhansi, where a retired railway employee allegedly murdered his live-in partner and attempted to erase all evidence by burning her dismembered body over several days. Police say the crime surfaced after an alert auto driver grew suspicious and informed authorities.
Crime Uncovered After Driver’s Alert
According to investigators, the accused, Ram Singh Parihar (64), had been living with Preeti (35) for the past six years. The couple reportedly shared a rented house in Jhansi. However, frequent disputes over money had strained their relationship. On January 8, Parihar allegedly killed Preeti following an argument.
To conceal the crime, police said the accused kept the body inside the rented house and later cut it into pieces. He then placed the remains in a large iron box and burned them gradually over seven days to avoid suspicion.
Attempt to Dispose Evidence Backfires
On Saturday night, Parihar hired a loader auto to move the iron box to his second wife’s residence. However, the driver noticed a strong stench and liquid leaking from the box. Sensing something was wrong, he immediately alerted the police.
Before officers arrived, the main accused fled the scene. When police opened the box, they found charred human bones and body parts, confirming the driver’s fears.
Motive Linked to Money Disputes
During preliminary investigations, police revealed that financial harassment and repeated arguments likely triggered the murder. The accused allegedly believed that destroying the body would help him evade arrest.
Search On for Prime Accused
Police have registered a murder case and launched a manhunt for Ram Singh Parihar. Meanwhile, officers have detained his son and another individual for questioning on suspicion of aiding the crime or helping destroy evidence.
Senior officials said teams are conducting raids at multiple locations to trace the absconding accused. They also praised the auto driver’s timely action, which helped expose the brutal crime.
Investigation Continues
Authorities are now reconstructing the sequence of events and gathering forensic evidence. Police have assured that the accused will be arrested soon and brought to justice.
The incident has once again raised concerns about domestic violence and crimes within live-in relationships, prompting calls for stricter vigilance and quicker intervention in cases of repeated disputes.
