Bhopal/Jhalawar:
A teenage love affair spiralled into a horrifying ordeal after a young man faced brutal torture at the hands of his girlfriend’s family. The shocking incident, which unfolded across Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, has triggered widespread outrage and a joint police investigation.
Lured From Bhopal to Rajasthan
Sonu, an 18-year-old resident of the Kolar area in Bhopal, had been in a relationship with a young woman from Pulora village in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district. About two weeks ago, the girl left her home and joined Sonu in Bhopal.
However, her family soon intervened. They forcibly took her back to Rajasthan. Later, they allegedly used her phone to call Sonu and asked him to come and meet her.
Kidnapped and Held Captive
When Sonu reached Rajasthan, the girl’s family members allegedly abducted him. They confined him in a room for three days. During this period, they assaulted him repeatedly and threatened his life.
More disturbingly, the accused allegedly forced Sonu to drink urine poured into a beer bottle. They also recorded a video of the torture. Soon after, they sent the video to Sonu’s family to intimidate and humiliate him.
Video Alerts Family, Police Act Swiftly
After receiving the disturbing video, Sonu’s family panicked. They immediately approached the Kolar Police Station in Bhopal and filed a complaint. Police officers took the matter seriously and launched an investigation without delay.
Joint Investigation Underway
Kolar Police Station Inspector Sanjay Soni confirmed that authorities formed a special police team and sent it to Rajasthan. Meanwhile, officers from both states are working in close coordination.
“We are recording the victim’s statement and closely examining the video evidence. We will take strict legal action against all those involved,” the inspector said.
Incident Sparks Public Outrage
Meanwhile, the incident has reignited debate around violence linked to relationships and so-called honour crimes. Social media users and rights groups have demanded swift arrests and strong punishment.
At present, police teams continue their search for all accused persons. Officials have assured that they will bring the perpetrators to justice at the earliest.
