Vizag Utsav is being organised on a grand scale across Visakhapatnam and two neighbouring districts, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh said on Saturday. Speaking at the opening ceremony, the minister said the nine-day festival reflects the culture, traditions, and collective spirit of the region. He described Vizag Utsav as a people’s festival and urged citizens to participate actively and make it a grand success.
Vizag Utsav to run for nine days across districts
Minister Kandula Durgesh said Vizag Utsav will continue for nine days and extend across three districts. He stated that the festival aims to showcase Andhra Pradesh’s cultural heritage and promote tourism. According to him, special attractions such as helicopter rides and paragliding were introduced to offer visitors a unique experience. He added that Vizag Utsav belongs to everyone and reflects shared traditions and values.
The tourism department designed the festival to attract both domestic and international visitors. Officials expect the event to boost local tourism and generate employment opportunities. The minister called on people to support the initiative and help position Vizag as a major cultural destination.
Home Minister Anitha highlights Vizag’s emotional connect
Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha described Visakhapatnam as an emotion rather than just a city. She said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan share a special affection for Vizag. Participating in the inaugural programme, she said Vizag Utsav will be celebrated with grandeur for nine days.
Anitha also announced that Anakapalli Utsav will be organised on the 29th and 30th of this month. She said efforts are underway to conduct Anakapalli Utsav on a scale comparable to Vizag Utsav. According to her, regional festivals play a key role in strengthening cultural identity and regional pride.
Bala Veeranjaneya Swami outlines festival attractions
Minister Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swami said Visakhapatnam is steadily growing into a global city. He explained that Vizag Utsav offers entertainment, adventure sports, and well-organised food courts. He said these attractions cater to all age groups and enhance the overall festival experience.
The minister urged people to participate in large numbers and make the festival successful. He added that Vizag Utsav will continue until February 1 and will feature several cultural and entertainment programmes during this period.
Palla Srinivasa Rao on branding Vizag globally
AP TDP president Palla Srinivasa Rao said branding Vizag Utsav as the biggest beach festival is a positive step. He stated that the festival helps take Vizag’s brand image to national and international levels. According to him, such events strengthen tourism and improve the city’s global visibility.
Palla Srinivasa Rao also said the government is committed to making Vizag Utsav bigger in the coming years. He highlighted that local artists are receiving strong encouragement through the festival. The leadership believes Vizag Utsav will emerge as a signature cultural event for Andhra Pradesh.
With large crowds, diverse attractions, and strong administrative support, Vizag Utsav continues to draw attention as one of the state’s most ambitious cultural festivals.
