A cash seizure near the Srisailam toll gate in Nandyal district has sparked fresh concern among officials. Police and temple security teams found ₹30 lakh in cash during routine vehicle checks close to the Srisailam Devasthanam toll gate. The discovery immediately raised suspicion due to the lack of proper documents.
The incident took place when security personnel stopped a car for inspection. During the search, officers noticed bundles of cash stored inside the vehicle. Since the amount was unusually large, officials intensified questioning at the spot.
Temple Chief Security Officer Srinivasa Rao handed over the seized cash to the Srisailam police. However, the individuals linked to the vehicle failed to explain the source of the money clearly. They could not produce valid proof, and their statements did not match. This prompted officials to alert the First Town Police Station.
Police seized both the cash and the car for further examination. Officers then registered a case and began an investigation from multiple angles. Although the suspects claimed the money was related to a gold business, police found the explanation weak. Carrying such a large amount in cash raised further doubts.
The incident has drawn public attention due to the sensitive location near a major temple. Police are now reviewing CCTV footage and tracking vehicle movement in the area. They are also checking whether the cash violates financial or tax laws.
Officials confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. Police said they will take action based on evidence and verification. Authorities added that security checks will continue to prevent illegal activities around the temple zone.
