Governor to Address Legislature on Opening Day
The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly will begin its fifth session under the 16th Assembly on February 11. The session will take place at the Assembly complex in Velagapudi. Governor S. Abdul Nazeer formally approved the schedule and issued the notification.
On the opening day, the Governor will address members of both the Assembly and the Legislative Council at 10 a.m. This address will outline the government’s priorities for the coming financial year. As a result, it will set the direction for discussions during the session.
Debate on Governor’s Address to Follow
Following the address, the House will take up the motion of thanks on February 12. Legislators will actively participate in the debate and raise key policy issues. Meanwhile, the discussion will continue into the next day.
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu will reply to the debate on February 13. During his response, he is expected to clarify the government’s stance on governance, development, and financial planning. At the same time, the reply will signal the administration’s broader legislative agenda.
Annual Budget Presentation on February 14
The most important event of the session will take place on February 14. On that day, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav will present the annual budget for the 2026–27 financial year. The budget will focus on economic growth, fiscal discipline, and public welfare.
Additionally, the government aims to strengthen infrastructure and improve service delivery through this financial plan. Therefore, the budget presentation is expected to draw strong attention inside and outside the Assembly.
Separate Agriculture Budget on the Same Day
Along with the general budget, Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu will introduce a separate agriculture budget on February 14. This move highlights the government’s focus on the farming sector.
The agriculture budget will address farmer welfare, irrigation projects, crop support measures, and rural development. Consequently, it will play a key role in shaping policies for the agrarian economy.
Four-Week Session to Discuss Key Bills
The budget session is likely to continue for nearly four weeks. During this period, the Assembly will pass the annual budget and debate several important bills. Moreover, lawmakers will discuss governance reforms and development initiatives.
