State Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has issued a warning to liquor shop owners selling alcohol above the Maximum Retail Price (MRP). Complaints about overpricing have been received from across the state, including significant reports from the East Godavari district. The Deputy CM emphasised that selling liquor at higher rates violates regulations and tarnishes the government’s image.
Pawan Kalyan stated that all liquor shop owners must strictly follow government rules. He said overcharging not only harms consumers but also reflects poorly on the administration. The Deputy Chief Minister’s response comes as part of his ongoing efforts to ensure fair trade practices across the state.
Additionally, officials in the concerned department have been instructed to maintain continuous monitoring of liquor shops. Excise authorities are directed to take strict action against those found selling alcohol above the prescribed rates. The government aims to protect consumers and maintain transparency in alcohol sales.
