Eluru district authorities carried out a major raid after receiving complaints about hotels using adulterated oil from animal fat for cooking. The operation focused on Adivarapeta, Tangillamudi, and nearby areas where the illegal practices were reported.
Ubhayagodavari District Food Safety Officer Venkataratnam, along with vigilance officials and Circle Inspector of Food Safety Ramaraju, personally inspected the kitchens. During the raids, they seized 30 litres of oil and 26 tins of adulterated cooking oil.
Authorities warned hotel owners that they cannot compromise public health. Residents expressed relief and called for strict action against hotels using unsafe ingredients. The officials said they will continue inspections to prevent future violations.
