YSR Congress Party president and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has become the focus of fresh security concerns after party leaders raised serious allegations over repeated last-minute route changes during his recent tours in Andhra Pradesh. The YSRCP has formally written to the Union Home Ministry, urging immediate intervention and demanding Z+ category security for the party chief.
In a letter, party leaders observed worrying security lapses during YS Jagan’s recent public movements. In particular, they alleged that police officials changed travel routes at the final moment without prior notice, triggering suspicion within the party. YSRCP leaders believe such decisions could expose the former chief minister to potential risks.
Allegations Over Sudden Route Changes
YSRCP state general secretary and MLC Talasila Raghuram addressed the issue directly in a detailed letter to the Union Home Ministry. He claimed that police authorities altered YS Jagan’s travel route during his February 6 journey from Tadepalli to Ibrahimpatnam. Instead of allowing the originally planned 22-kilometre route, officials reportedly diverted the convoy through a longer 47-kilometre stretch.
Moreover, the party stated that neither YS Jagan’s security team nor party representatives received advance information about the route modification. As a result, the sudden change created confusion and raised serious questions about safety preparedness.
Party Expresses Suspicion of a Conspiracy
YSRCP leaders also expressed concern over what they described as a possible conspiracy behind the police instructions. They alleged that repeated last-minute decisions could not be dismissed as routine administrative changes. Instead, they argued that such actions weaken standard security protocols and increase vulnerability during high-profile political tours.
Furthermore, the party claimed that these lapses occurred despite YS Jagan being a former chief minister and a prominent opposition leader with a large public following.
Demand for Z+ Category Security
In view of these developments, the YSRCP has strongly appealed to the Centre to grant Z+ category security to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Party leaders stressed that enhanced protection is necessary to prevent any untoward incident and to ensure the smooth conduct of public engagements across the state.
They also urged the Union Home Ministry to review the conduct of local police officials involved in route planning and security arrangements.
As political temperatures rise in Andhra Pradesh, the issue of YS Jagan’s security is expected to draw further attention, with the party demanding accountability and stronger safeguards in the days ahead.
