Governor to Address Assembly Today

The Andhra Pradesh Assembly budget sessions began today. Governor Abdul Nazeer addressed both houses at 10 AM. After his speech, the Speaker convened a Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting. The BAC will finalise the number of days the sessions will run and decide the key topics for discussion.

Minister Nara Lokesh met Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan in his chamber. They discussed current political developments and issues that may arise during the budget meetings.

Budget Presentation and Session Schedule

The government will present the budget on February 14. The Speaker confirmed that the sessions may continue until March 12. Officials expect the budget discussions to span 19 working days, but the BAC meeting will provide the final schedule.

Priority Topics for Discussion

The ruling party plans to address nearly 20 priority issues. Key topics include:

  • Irregular use of ghee in Tirumala laddoo preparation

  • Settlements related to theft in Parakamani

  • Progress in Amaravati construction

  • Implementation of the Super-6 scheme

  • Investments and welfare programs

  • Education sector reforms

Political Tensions During the Governor’s Speech

Former Chief Minister YS Jagan and YSRCP MLAs attended the Assembly today. As the Governor began his speech, YSRCP members raised slogans against the government, criticising the PPP policy. Later, they boycotted the Governor’s address and left the Assembly.

Earlier, Jagan and other YSRCP members held a demonstration at Gate No. 4 before entering the House. The party has stated that it will attend only for the Governor’s speech, raising uncertainty about their participation in future sessions.

Key Debates Before Budget Presentation

On February 12 and 13, the Assembly will discuss a motion to thank the Governor for his speech. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will respond at the end of the debate. The government will then present the budget on February 14.

Maha Shivaratri Holiday and Departmental Discussions

The Assembly may observe holidays on February 15 (Sunday) and February 16 (Monday) for Maha Shivaratri. From February 17 onward, general discussions on the budget will continue for two to three days. Afterwards, debates will focus on departmental grants and demands.

First-Day Attendance and Next Steps

YSRCP has decided to attend only the Governor’s speech today. After his address, the Assembly is expected to adjourn temporarily. The session will resume with discussions on welfare, investments, and sectoral reforms in Andhra Pradesh.
