On February 23, 2026, global e-commerce giant Amazon marked a major milestone in India by inaugurating its second-largest campus in Asia. The new facility, located in Bengaluru, reflects the company’s growing confidence in India’s digital future.
Spread across 1.1 million square feet, the massive 12-story campus can accommodate more than 7,000 employees. Teams from e-commerce, technology, payments, and seller services will operate from this single location, making it one of Amazon’s most significant hubs in the region.
A Strong Vote of Confidence in India
The campus was officially inaugurated by Karnataka Minister M. B. Patil, who described the investment as a major boost to India’s digital economy. According to him, such large-scale expansions not only create employment but also strengthen the local technology ecosystem.
Over the years, Amazon has invested more than $40 billion in India. Moreover, the company has committed to investing an additional $35 billion by 2030. This long-term financial commitment highlights India’s importance in Amazon’s global strategy.
Why Bengaluru?
Amazon chose Bengaluru for a reason. Often referred to as India’s Silicon Valley, the city plays a central role in the country’s technology landscape. The new campus is located just 15 kilometres from Kempegowda International Airport, making it easily accessible for global teams and visitors.
Speaking at the inauguration, Sameer Kumar, Amazon India’s Country Manager, emphasised that Bengaluru remains a critical hub for the company’s technology and business operations. He noted that the new campus aims to encourage collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
Designed for Collaboration and Comfort
Beyond its size, the campus stands out for its thoughtful design. The workspace includes modern office layouts that promote teamwork and creativity. In addition, the facility houses an event space that can accommodate more than 200 people.
However, the company has also focused on employee well-being. The campus features recreational facilities such as basketball and pickleball courts, an amphitheatre, and spacious cafeterias offering international cuisine. These amenities aim to create a balanced work environment where productivity and personal wellness go hand in hand.
Built with Sustainability in Mind
Importantly, Amazon has incorporated sustainability into the campus design. The building uses environmentally responsible materials and energy-efficient systems to reduce carbon emissions. Through such measures, the company hopes to align its growth with environmental responsibility.
Strengthening India’s Global Tech Position
This expansion sends a clear message: Amazon views India as a long-term partner in innovation. By building one of its largest campuses in Asia in Bengaluru, the company reinforces India’s status as a global technology powerhouse.
As Amazon continues to expand its footprint, the new campus stands as a symbol of opportunity, investment, and confidence in India’s digital journey. For thousands of employees who will walk through its doors, it represents not just a workplace — but a hub of ideas shaping the future of technology.
