Tension prevailed near the Bharathi Cement Corporation Private Limited plant in Nalla Lingayyapalli village of Kamalapuram mandal in Kadapa. Villagers staged a protest demanding immediate support for families who lost their lands for the industry.
Residents of Nalla Lingayyapalli said the company and authorities had failed to fulfil earlier promises made to displaced families. They alleged that several assurances related to rehabilitation and financial assistance remain pending.
Workers employed at the cement plant also expressed dissatisfaction. They said the company provided jobs to some affected families, but the salaries do not meet their basic needs. Many claimed that rising living costs have made it difficult to manage their households with their current pay.
As tensions grew, a large number of affected families gathered in front of the factory gate. Protesters raised slogans and demanded justice. The situation turned tense as more villagers joined the agitation.
Police rushed to the spot and deployed heavy security to prevent any untoward incidents. Officials maintained strict vigil around the factory premises to ensure law and order.
The protesters warned that they would continue their agitation until authorities resolve their issues. They urged the government and company management to hold talks and provide concrete solutions at the earliest.
Local officials have not yet announced formal discussions, but efforts are reportedly underway to ease tensions and restore normalcy in the area.
