An unexpected twist has emerged in the sensational gold robbery case that took place on a train in Bihar last year. Police have arrested the investigating officer himself after confirming his involvement in the crime.

The incident occurred in November when a Kolkata-based gold trader, Dhananjay, was travelling from Howrah to Jaipur on the Howrah–Bikaner Express. While the train halted at Gaya station, four men wearing police uniforms boarded the coach. Two of them sat beside the trader and struck up a conversation. During the interaction, they gathered details about his profession and the gold he was carrying.

Later that night, while the trader was asleep, the accused allegedly stole gold biscuits worth ₹1.44 crore and fled. The victim lodged a complaint with the Patna Government Railway Police (GRP), prompting an official investigation.

During the probe, senior GRP officials examined call data records and internal communications of railway police personnel. The analysis revealed shocking evidence pointing to the involvement of Gaya GRP Station House Officer Rajesh Kumar Singh and other staff members in the robbery.

Based on the findings, police arrested Rajesh Kumar Singh and produced him before the court. The court remanded him to judicial custody. Officials confirmed that efforts are underway to identify and arrest other police personnel linked to the crime.

Authorities stated that the case exposed serious misuse of power and breach of public trust. The investigation continues, and more arrests are likely in the coming days.
