The investigation into the Goa nightclub fire is moving faster now, as Thai authorities detained the main accused — Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra. Their arrest videos surfaced online and confirmed the major breakthrough.
Owners Fled to Thailand Hours After the Fire
The fire broke out at the “Birk by Romeo Lane” nightclub on December 6 at 11:45 PM. Soon after the incident, both owners escaped India. Mumbai’s Bureau of Immigration tracked their travel and found that they flew to Phuket on December 7 at 5:30 AM.
Their passports were already suspended, so staying in Thailand violated the law. Therefore, Thai officials took them into custody and informed Indian investigators. Authorities expect their deportation within the next 24 hours.
Fire Claims 25 Lives
The nightclub fire killed 25 people, making it one of the worst tragedies in Goa in recent years. Investigators said a gas cylinder exploded, and firecrackers inside the club made the flames spread faster. As a result, many people got trapped and rescue teams struggled to control the blaze.
Goa Government Announces Strict Safety Measures
Following the tragedy, the Goa government introduced strict safety rules. It banned firecrackers and electronic fire effects in all restaurants, pubs, clubs and lounges. Officials said the new rules will reduce fire risks and force establishments to follow safety guidelines.
Families of the victims are demanding quick justice. Meanwhile, police officers believe more arrests may follow as the investigation continues.
