IndiGo’s flight cancellations continued for a second day, disrupting travel plans and leaving passengers stuck at airports nationwide. To handle the crisis, Indian Railways stepped in and arranged special trains to help people reach their destinations on time.
South Central Railway launched special services on major routes such as Secunderabad–Chennai, Charlapalli–Kolkata, and Hyderabad–Mumbai. Officials said these trains still have vacant berths, giving stranded passengers a reliable travel option.
The Railway Ministry also decided to add 116 extra coaches to 37 trains to meet the sudden rise in demand. Many express trains are already running with additional bogies to manage the heavy passenger load.
Union Ministers Assure Support and Refunds
Union Minister Pemmassani Chandrasekhar said the government is working to reduce the inconvenience faced by passengers. He stressed that officials are giving special care to children, senior citizens, and people with disabilities during this crisis.
He added that Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu is closely reviewing the situation. The government will investigate the reasons behind the mass cancellations. Chandrasekhar also confirmed that all affected passengers will receive refunds, and the process will be made faster.
The government urged passengers to follow official updates and use the alternative transport arrangements provided during this ongoing disruption.
