A fresh controversy has erupted at the Kanaka Durga Temple in Vijayawada after a temple board member’s husband allegedly misbehaved with temple staff during a darshan. The incident has triggered criticism over conduct inside one of Andhra Pradesh’s most revered temples.

The incident occurred when temple board member Tarigoppala Parvathi visited the shrine along with her husband Hussain and a few others. During the darshan, priests offered blessings to Parvathi and some members of her group as per temple protocol.

However, Hussain reportedly objected after noticing that not everyone in their group received the same blessings. He allegedly shouted at temple staff and used abusive language, accusing them of discrimination. He demanded that all members of their group be given shesha vastrams, prasadam, and jacket cloth pieces.

Temple staff tried to explain the procedures, but the situation escalated. Witnesses said Hussain continued his outburst in front of devotees, creating tension within the temple premises. Despite being present at the spot, board member Parvathi did not intervene or attempt to calm her husband.

The incident has drawn sharp reactions, especially as it follows earlier controversies involving temple administration. Devotees expressed concern over repeated disturbances inside the shrine and called for strict adherence to discipline, regardless of position or influence.

Temple authorities have not yet issued an official statement. Meanwhile, calls are growing for clear guidelines to prevent such incidents and protect the sanctity of the temple environment.
