Rishab Shetty’s much-anticipated prequel Kantara Chapter 1 has stormed into theatres with a thunderous debut. Kantara collected an estimated ₹30–40 crore on its release day. With ₹17 crore in advance bookings alone, the film has set a new benchmark for Kannada cinema. This signals a powerful start to its theatrical run across Karnataka, Kerala, and the Telugu-speaking states. Over 72,000 tickets have been booked so far, as per BookMyShow.

Set in the mystic backdrop of 4th-century coastal Karnataka, Kantara Chapter 1 dives deep into folklore, tribal traditions, and spiritual guardianship. Rishab, who also directs, stars as a fierce protector of sacred lands. He navigates a world of rebellion and ritual, joined by Rukmini Vasanth and Jayaram. Their performances add emotional depth to the narrative.

Critics and audiences alike have lauded the film’s second-half crescendo. They praise Kantara’s visual effects, immersive sound design, and emotionally charged climax. Some viewers pointed out the slower pacing in the first half, but critics and audiences alike hailed the film as a triumph. It showcases exceptional storytelling and technical brilliance.

Early reviews emphasise the film’s theatrical grandeur. Many call it a cultural milestone for Kannada cinema. The film’s success is expected to ripple beyond regional borders. It draws attention to the growing influence of rooted, mythological narratives in Indian filmmaking.

With Kantara Chapter 1, Rishab Shetty not only expands the universe he created in the original Kantara. He also reaffirms his place as a visionary storyteller blending heritage, mysticism, and cinematic spectacle.

Stay tuned as the film continues its journey through box office records and audience hearts.
