Maredumilli: Police have issued a strong warning to tourists planning to visit the forest areas of Maredumilli in Alluri Seetharamaraju district. Security forces recently discovered pressure mines and landmines in low-lying forest regions, prompting authorities to restrict movement until clearance operations are completed.

Tourist footfall to Maredumilli has increased significantly in recent weeks. However, police officials say the situation remains sensitive. Encounters took place in the Maredumilli forest region last month. During subsequent combing operations, security forces found explosive devices planted by Maoists. Officials believe the explosives were meant to target security personnel.

At present, specialized forces are carrying out a mine clearance program in the affected areas. Teams have already removed several pressure mines. Meanwhile, operations continue to locate and safely defuse remaining landmines hidden in valleys and low-lying forest paths.

Police officials have clearly instructed tourists and local residents not to enter restricted forest zones. They warned that movement in these areas could prove dangerous until the clearance work concludes. Authorities emphasized that safety remains the top priority.

Officials also urged tourists to follow guidelines issued by local police and forest departments. Visitors should avoid trekking into interior forest routes and stick to approved tourist zones only. Police said they would announce fresh updates once the mine clearance operation ends.

The district police appealed to the public to cooperate with security forces and avoid spreading rumors. They assured that normal tourist activities would resume once the area becomes fully secure.
