Internal rift weakens Telangana BJP

The Telangana BJP has eight MPs, including two Union Ministers. However, internal differences continue to weaken the party. Each MP appears to work in a different direction. As a result, party workers and even sympathisers feel confused. Allegations persist that a few senior leaders are acting as covert supporters of the BRS.

Former MLA Raja Singh has repeatedly warned that BJP cannot gain power in Telangana as long as such leaders remain influential. However, the central leadership ignored these concerns for a long time. The Jubilee Hills by-election loss once again exposed the party’s poor coordination.

Lack of unity among MPs

Disputes between BJP leaders have often surfaced in public. Earlier clashes between Bandi Sanjay and Etala Rajender created media attention and embarrassed the party. Although BJP claims to be a disciplined organisation, recent developments suggest otherwise. Despite bold claims of winning the next elections, the ground reality looks different.

Modi steps in to fix Telangana BJP

Finally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi intervened. During a tiffin meeting with BJP MPs from southern states, excluding Karnataka, Modi openly expressed dissatisfaction with Telangana MPs. He reportedly said the party missed a real opportunity to come to power due to lack of coordination and teamwork.

Modi questioned why BJP failed to emerge as a strong opposition despite having eight MPs. He even remarked that AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi performs better than Telangana BJP MPs. He asked them to learn from Owaisi’s social media activity and grassroots engagement.

Strong warning and clear directions

Modi reportedly shared sealed performance reports highlighting MPs’ responsiveness and online presence. He instructed them to interact regularly with party workers and conduct village-level meetings. Moreover, he criticised leaders for failing to expose the shortcomings of the Congress government.

Referring to BJP’s success in states like Odisha, Modi questioned Telangana leaders’ poor performance. He also expressed disappointment over the Jubilee Hills by-election, where BJP lost nearly 7,000 votes compared to the previous poll.

Will Telangana BJP change?

The Prime Minister warned that the party president should not be taken lightly and strict action would follow indiscipline. He urged leaders to set aside internal disputes and move forward unitedly.

Now, the big question remains: Will Telangana BJP MPs change after Modi’s strong class, or will the party continue to struggle as before?
