The Telangana government is set to deliver a Sankranti gift to farmers by releasing Rythu Bharosa funds for the ongoing Yaasangi season. However, this time, the scheme will follow stricter rules to ensure that only genuine cultivators receive financial assistance. The government aims to make the scheme more transparent and farmer-focused by introducing technology-driven verification methods.

Sankranti Gift for Yaasangi Farmers

Officials have decided to credit the Yaasangi Rythu Bharosa investment support directly into farmers’ bank accounts as part of the Sankranti celebrations. The move is expected to provide timely relief to farmers ahead of the critical cultivation period. Authorities are preparing beneficiary lists and plan to complete fund transfers before the festival.

Satellite Survey to Identify Cultivation

In response to criticism that funds were earlier reaching non-cultivated lands, the government has introduced satellite-based land monitoring. Using satellite imagery and digital mapping, officials are identifying which fields are under active cultivation and which remain unused. This process helps distinguish cropped land from barren plots, real estate ventures, and idle holdings.

Focus on Genuine Farmers

Under the revised guidelines, only farmers who actually cultivate crops will be eligible for Rythu Bharosa support. Lands not used for agriculture, including vacant plots and real estate layouts, will no longer receive benefits. The government believes this step will reduce misuse, lower the burden on the state exchequer, and ensure fair distribution of funds.

Budget Allocation and Previous Performance

The state has allocated ₹18,000 crore for the Rythu Bharosa scheme in the current budget. During the last Vanakalam season, the government credited ₹9,000 crore to around 69 lakh farmers within just nine days. Encouraged by this response, officials now aim to replicate the same efficiency for the Yaasangi season.

Official Announcement Expected

Sources indicate that the government may make an official announcement regarding the new rules during the ongoing Assembly sessions. With these reforms, the Telangana government hopes to strengthen trust in the Rythu Bharosa scheme and provide meaningful support to farmers who actively contribute to agricultural production.
